Native fish aquaculture in Lake Tanganyika

Farming invasive fish has ruined most of Africa’s Great Lakes. Lake Tanganyika—the world’s second biggest lake by volume—remains relatively pristine, but the threat of invasive fish farming is imminent.
After completing a Masters in African and International Development, Alex moved to Kigoma, Tanzania in 2012 to build organizations that create broad-based sustainable economic growth. He has been there ever since. Alex also co-founded Upendo Honey, another conservation livelihoods business in Tanzania which is currently the largest employer in Kigoma.
