More than 80% of people in Madagascar live in extreme poverty. Madagascar’s landscapes and economy are collapsing under deforestation, degradation, and poor governance, threatening local livelihoods. Today, organizations are working in silos and there is no homegrown, green growth economic agenda.
Coalitions for green economic growth

Green economic growth.
INDRI brings together the right experts across Madagascar together to push for green economic growth. This green coalition identifies bottlenecks to growth, collectively finds solutions from a menu of pro-growth, green policies, and creates a homegrown economic plan with ecological guardrails. Then, the coalition brings in investment to implement those solutions.
A green coalition, spanning government ministries, private sector, and civil society implements proven, pro-growth economic policies with ecological guardrails. Big aid and philanthropy pay for the upfront investments until the government can use the dividends of growth to fuel a virtuous cycle.
Jean-Philippe understands the link between conservation and livelihoods and has furthered both in Madgascar as Blue Venture's Country Director. He knows how to translate great organizational level into systems change, cultivated during his time as Conservation International's European Policy Director. Under his leadership, the government of Madagascar adopted INDRI's ten principles for reforestration and measures against forest fires. His unique blend of experience positions him well to bring together a coalition for green economic growth in Madagascar, and INDRI is well on its way; they recently hosted a first-of-its-kind green growth summit, laying the foundation for a durable green growth coalition.
