Why we chose Joshua as a Fellow

Joshua is a former energy consultant from Northern California, and is laser-focused on off-the-grid Africa. Having grown up off the formal grid himself, Joshua knows the impact of a well-lit household, especially for rural communities in Tanzania.

Off.Grid:Electric installs a high-quality solar lighting system in customers' homes and sells them the metered electricity. This means that poor people get better lighting and power equipment than they could normally afford to buy. It also means they're taking no risk and spending less than they previously did for low-quality kerosene lighting.
