Organization
25% of India’s land exists as a “commons”—territory that is shared collectively. 350M of India’s rural poor depend on them to meet their basic needs, but the forests, pastures, and water in these commons is often degraded.
Jagdeesh has advised India's Planning Commission on the role of commons. His work has been recognized with the Times of India Social Impact award, Nobel Laureate Elinor Ostrom Award on Commons, UN's Land for Life award, and the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. He holds degrees in Agricultural Sciences, Rural Management and Forestry.
