How It Works
Cultivo uses satellite imagery and software to identify sites with high restoration potential and promising financial value. They work with landowners on restoration plans, financed by “natural capital payments” (carbon credits for now). The model unlocks funding for projects in vital ecosystems.

Why We're In
Cultivo has real momentum: 237,000 hectares in restoration and nearly 300,000 tons of carbon sold. Their $14M Series A validates the private landowner model, but the biggest opportunity lies in communal lands, where most degraded tropical land sits. Patient debt from Mulago can de-risk early project financing in this market segment and accelerate portfolio growth. This is a bet on grassland carbon sequestration—risky but potentially transformative for communal lands.
