How It Works
Unlock Aid built a coalition of social innovators to advocate and design better ways to spend public aid dollars. They co-design rule changes with insiders (like how contracts should be awarded and measured), build coalitions of organizations (like those in our Fellowships), and advocate with lawmakers to move the best ideas into policy. To date, their work with the US Government focuses on getting more outcomes based contracts and more funding to local Doers.

The potential ripple effect of Unlock Aid’s work is unparalleled.They’re pushing Big Aid to be more innovation-friendly, results-driven, and “scale up” focused. With the gutting of USAID and slashing of development budgets globally, policymakers are looking for effective, low-cost solutions worldwide. The huge disruption to the aid system might be the opening to push forward real, effective reforms.
