Half the world doesn't get enough Vitamin A, but adding it to food is tricky—it's too unstable to fortify like we do with iodized salt.

Good nutrition for African kids and moms.
Particles for Humanity (PFH) developed new, better encapsulation tech to get Vitamin A into staple food products that everyone in Africa eats (e.g., bouillon). It’s shelf stable in harsh conditions and retains far more Vitamin A than historically available alternatives.
African companies universally fortify staple foods with Vitamin A, leading to dramatic improvements in health for children and mothers.
PFH has for years focused on R&D and are on the cusp making it to the market. Their initial market is Nigeria where voluntary standards for fortified bouillon are imminent (but don’t yet include Vitamin A) and a major processor is testing PFH’s product. If this processor decides to move forward, they can reach 30 million people voluntarily over the next few years, a big signal to the market and other payers. We have a lot of questions on scalability, but the impact potential is huge.
