How It Works
Water Access Rwanda builds and maintains water infrastructure for the rural poor. They make clean water accessible by refurbishing existing wells, adding solar pumps, and bringing it directly into homes. They keep water affordable for even the poorest by selling water at set low prices, while carbon market revenues from avoided emissions bolster their margins and make this a smart business.

Why We're In
They've grown to over 50 piped water systems serving 200k+ people. They've proven they can operate profitably as a rural water utility in Rwanda—a breakthrough with Continental potential. User payments are kept affordable thanks to carbon revenues, and government subsidizes some infrastructure costs. Their utility-like service model is promising as it opens up new paths to finance rural water access.
